In our facilities, our team of fully qualified and certified welders work daily in the manufacturing of structure elements. In order to comply with the regulations we apply the strictest quality rules at every step of the project.
Calmesa has a fully trained team of fitters who are always working under strict health and safety standards during the assembly of metal structures and silos.
Expansion of factories and industrial structures
In Calmesa Estructuras we carry out complete studies on buildings that require expansion or refurbishment.
We feature state-of-the-art field data collection technology for modelling complex or difficult-to-access structures.
We collect information on site with 3D scanners that deliver a pinpoint accuracy point cloud for the structure.
We integrate our BIM models with the point cloud 3D information in order to contrast any difference.
Using state-of-the-art software, we make calculations on the expanded structure and its impact on what is already there.
Works carried out
The following is a brief sample of work projects carried out within the Spanish national territory.
Calmesa Estructuras applies the highest quality control standards, generally exceeding those required by current legislation. Among our projects on feed and flour factories are the current leading facilities in Spain in terms of their extent and complexity as well as their required productivity.
Our engineering department not only designs our own projects, but also undertakes the management of the entire quality process, which includes a welding certification and monitoring the anchoring and tightening of bolted joints.
All personnel have undergone the most thorough and demanding training process and have been subjected to approval tests for the development of their works both in the workshop and in the work site.
Our engineering team develops projects with the highest level of expertise, giving our clients optimal solutions in advanced and complex structure calculation.
We have in place the latest structural design and analysis software technology, which integrates with the BIM methodology used within the company.
We work with high-level numerical modelling technology. This technology allows us to do anything from analysing bolted or welded metal connections with the use of the Component-based Finite Element Method (CBFEM) to carrying out a multi-valued analysis to find the global and local buckling modes within the structure.
We develop our projects with a number of software solutions including:
Diamonds, Consteel, IDEA Connection and CYPE Ingenieros. These program packages allow us to generate numerical models with a high degree of accuracy thus producing optimal solutions in compliance with standards and regulations.
We work with the most advanced BIM technology using software such as Tekla and StruMIS. We carry out a rigorous and thorough production quality control and manage to manufacture works up to execution class EXC4.

We build feed and flour factories
The metal silos that we build are square or rectangular thus making the most of the available space.
These silos can have several uses including the storage of:
• Granular products (cereals)
• Powdery products (flours)
• Industrial rocks (limestone, gypsum, etc.)
Calmesa basically manufactures two types of panels: trapezoidal and zigzag.
1. Trapezoidal folded sheet metal panels, mainly used for cereal storage.
2. Sheet panels folded in a zigzag, used for the storage of all kinds of products. It is the most widely used type of panel in feed and flour factories. These panels are folded at a steep angle to prevent silage product retention.
The hoppers and counter-hoppers manufactured are:
1. 8-sided and pyramidal, to facilitate the emptying of silage product.
2. Adjustable and cone-shaped, to provide the layout required for the mechanisation of the emptying procedure.

Our facilities have a highly technical workshop with an area of 4,000 m2 for production; these facilities are supplemented by 300 m2 intended for surface treatment and painting.
1,600 m2 of warehouse space ensures we have sufficient capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to enable the logistical coordination required to meet the timeframes agreed with customers.
Our team of certified and approved welders has extensive experience in the construction of all our products in accordance with EN-1090-1 up to performance class EXC4.
